โ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Hey everyone. Welcome back to the eternal postpartum podcast, where we are supporting mothers and providers in reclaiming collectivism and wellness through the infinite postpartum chapters. I'm your host, Kilah Lawson. And in today's episode, we are going to break down how in the world you increase your energy levels.
This is such an important topic because how are we going to rise in strength and wellness and collectivism as women if we are exhausted. So many of us are literally running on fumes.
We can't remember the last time we had a good night's sleep. We don't even know what the concept of rest looks like. We're lacking energy where unproductive and then that turns into this cycle of guilt, because you're not able to get anything done because you're so tired. And we see this on both sides of the coin.
We see mothers struggling with this and those who are supporting mothers as providers. Um, We also struggle with this. And so again, if we are going to press forward with the eternal post-partum movement and truly reclaim wellness, So that we can support each other. Then I feel like we have to address this.
I want to break down to you how you can truly increase your energy so that you can be more productive so that you can be more present within your home so that you can show up for your family. And if you are a provider so that you can be more productive in your business so that you're not pouring every ounce of yourself to your clients while neglecting yourselves and feeling like you've run yourself ragged by the end of each day.
So y'all know me. I don't play around when it comes to my rest. Anytime that I can get eight to nine hours of sleep. I'm definitely going to do that. This is something that I do consistently, but I also want to be very realistic because a lot of us are juggling.
A lot of things. A lot of us have small children who are still waking throughout the night. My youngest is getting ready to turn five and she's just now coming to a point where she's sleeping through the night and she's not disturbing us. So I just want to be real. I want to face reality. Even as providers, we're juggling our businesses and we're playing the role there.
And then we're also trying to balance our roles.. as mothers and every other role that we play.
And some of us are stay at home moms, but some of us are working outside of our homes. And so the reality is that we are bombarded with so much responsibility as mothers, so much responsibility as women. Um, oftentimes we're the default parent in our household.
So our kids are coming to us for everything. We're responsible for doctor's appointments. We're responsible for taking the kids to sports practices. Then we have to get meals together and plan meals and prepare meals. And it honestly can just get so overwhelming.
We are being drained to our very core and it's not only just that we are lacking energy, our lack of energy is tying into every other aspect of our lives. So the lack of energy oftentimes shows up as stress or you may get easily overstimulated and that overstimulation kind of causes you to check out and your kids might be coming to you, wanting your attention, wanting to play or wanting to cuddle with you.
And you just can't handle it because you're completely touched out, you're exhausted. You're completely just overwhelmed.
I've definitely struggled with this as a mother. And I have to be intentional to make sure that I am setting myself up to thrive.
We have to also be mindful of this as providers. So many of us have entered this work because we don't want mothers experiencing the same things that we experienced. And so we've entered the field to become postpartum doulas or birth doulas Or mental health specialists or whatever we're doing in order to elevate women, we've entered this field because of our own experiences.
And we see the change that needs to happen. And we want to be the change that.
is needed.
Many of you are struggling. You're struggling to find balance in your lives. You're completely exhausted. And when we're exhausted, it makes it hard for us to truly be productive. For me sometimes I get to the point where I have so much on my plate that I completely avoid my to-do list.
I'm just going to be honest. All right. And this is a safe space right y'all so sometimes my to-do list is so long and I am so overwhelmed and I am so burned out. That I will just opt to doom scroll on social media.
I will opt to binge watch YouTube videos, or I will opt to do some other low priority task because my mind struggles to piece together, how I'm going to knock out everything on my to-do list. And maybe that's your reality for you? What I do know is that as providers, so many of us want to expand our reach and increase our client load, but it almost feels unrealistic.
Like how can I even add more to my plate when I'm already feeling stretched so thin. So this is something that we have to come to grips with. How do we as providers increase our client load, create a bigger impact and truly change the world while not giving more of ourselves and giving more of our time.
And this is what I helped providers to do in their practice, because we don't have to give up more of our time and more of our energy in order to expand our reach. Before I get into that any further, I do want to break down as mothers and providers.
What can we do to truly increase our energy. A lot of us are running to maybe a cup of coffee or energy drink or some other quick fix to get a surge of energy. The issue with this is that turning to a quick fix is never getting to the root cause of the issue.
And another thing to consider is not only are we not getting to the root cause of why we're lacking energy, but some of these, um, some of these solutions that we're turning to, or actually creating imbalance within our hormones. Some of us have become dependent on caffeine and coffee
and if we don't have our coffee multiple times a day, then we experienced withdrawal symptoms and body imbalance, and we start to get headaches and we start to feel anxiety and same thing with energy drinks.
And sometimes we're turning to solutions like vitamin shots or exercise, and these things aren't bad in and of themselves.
But what I have come to discover is that a lot of solutions that we've run to only fix one very small piece to usually a very big puzzle- that is our health.
So what I want to do is to help you to figure out why is your body lacking the energy what steps do you need to take in order to increase your energy levels while not having to compromise your hormone health in the process?
When it comes to increasing your energy levels, I like to use my RestfulRevive Method and the RestfulRevive Method centers around the fact that every single aspect of your health influences your energy levels and those aspects of health also interconnect with one another.
So let's break this down even further. The four aspects of health, our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I want to start with the physical, because I feel like on a practical level, that's where a lot of our issues is women really stem from. As mothers, we aren't empowered to make decisions about our health and our body that truly put us in the driver's seat and propel habits of lifelong wellness.
So what we see with a lot of mothers is that we begin to have children. We aren't taught how we should be caring for our postpartum bodies. And, in those first six weeks it's really vital that we pay attention to those things, because there are a lot of changes that happen on a physiological level. If we don't take the time to replenish the nutrients that are being stripped from our bodies, then it creates a life long health issues.
So this is why we often see that women struggle with hormone, imbalance, depression, anxiety, hair loss uh, lack of energy, the inability to go to sleep the inability to rest. All of these things are connected to the immediate postpartum phase. And we never take the time to truly course correct.
And the reality is that the negative impact that you experienced even within those first few months, or those first few years really have the potential to impact your health for decades after giving birth. And this is why it's so important for us to address the fact that women need to be supported through the infinite chapters of postpartum.
Not just those immediate weeks, not just the immediate years. A lot of women are experiencing issues related to their health because replenishment and deep restorative healing was neglected immediately postpartum. And so on a physical level, what I always like to kind of go back to is what's happening with our hormones because our hormones really dictate every single aspect of our health. Including our energy levels.
So what I observe as I'm working with so many women is that the lack of energy often points to hormone imbalance, and the only way that we can restore hormone imbalance is
if we address things like nutrition, and if we're implementing restorative practices into our routine, and if we are addressing our gut health, all of these aspects of health impact our hormones and it contributes to our energy levels.
The truth about hormones is that honestly, so many of us are just clueless to the way that our hormones operate. Even our doctors are a bit clueless. I have women coming to me all the time, sharing with me that. They know their hormones are off. They're experiencing acne, they're experiencing weight gain.
They're experiencing issues within their period and they go to their doctors and they share, Hey, I'm having all of these issues. And what a lot of women face is that their providers are just so dismissive. And I don't think it's necessarily that our healthcare professionals have ill intent per se, but I just believe to my core that, you know, even providers and doctors and health professionals that mean well, they're just not educated on the body as a whole. Our healthcare system
isn't set up to where we truly get to the root of the issue and acknowledge every single aspect of health in order to address health. If you go to other cultures, if you observe and acknowledge the way that Eastern cultures address health and the way that they implement healing strategies, you'll notice that they take more of a holistic approach.
A lot of times when people think holistic, they just think, oh, alternative remedies or natural remedies. Um, and that's not necessarily the case, but when we're talking, holism, we're just acknowledging the fact that Hey, We're going to pay attention to every single aspect of health we're going to not only pay attention to the physical symptoms, but we're going to take a deep dive and figure out, you know, what's going on emotionally.
What's going on mentally. What's happening spiritually. What's going on with the environment. We're going to ask more questions to figure out what is the root cause of the issue. And that is honestly what our healthcare system lacks. And so one thing that I do when I am working, not only with mothers, but this is a integral part of what I'm teaching providers as well, because as providers, if we're going to make an impact that truly lasts and resonates with our clients beyond the time that we spend with them, then it's so important for us to be able to empower our clients in making decisions for their health that are not going to be short-term but longterm.
And so it's so important for us as providers to be confident in what we are teaching our clients so that we can create true change. Again, I go back to the fact that women are the foundations of our homes. We are the foundational pillars of our communities. In order for our communities to thrive, we have to be well.
So it's so important for me, not only to teach this to mothers, but also for providers to have this information, it doesn't matter if you're a, a midwife, a doula if your pelvic floor therapist.
If you're working with women in some capacity, then we should be teaching women how to come to a holistic empower mindset.
This is not only necessary for you as a provider, as you begin to elevate your practice, as you begin to extend your reach, as you begin to increase your confidence and your knowledge and your skillset, but it's also just very important and vital for personal application. The whole purpose of this podcast episode is to teach you how you increase your energy levels so that you can be more productive. And so this is important for mothers.
This is important for providers. How are we going to be productive within our homes? If we are constantly lacking energy, how are we going to be more productive in our businesses and in our practices, if we are constantly pouring from ourselves, And if we are experiencing exhaustion, that rocks us to our core.
So these are principles, not only that we should be teaching, but these are practices that we should also be implementing into our own lives as well.
So again, let me just run down a recap because I know I just said a lot there, but when it comes to increasing energy and when we're looking at this from a physical aspect, I think it's vital that we truly just pay attention to what's going on with our hormones and making sure that our hormones are in balance and that we're living lifestyles to promote hormone balance.
When I'm teaching hormone balance, I go through a full vitality check with the women that I'm supporting. And, um, this is a pretty long survey that my clients take it usually takes them about an hour to complete. But I'm asking questions to, to, you know, to figure out and to learn, you know, where are they with their gut health? Are they experiencing some sort of depletion. You know, what's happening here. And the goal is not only for me to get insight on, you know, symptoms that they're experiencing that may be pointing to hormonal imbalance. But it's also to show them, you know, I don't want to be the expert.
I want to be the guide. I want to show women, this is what's going on and this is what it likely correlates to.
The goal again, is to put women in the driver's seat of their health for you to feel empowered in the choices that you're making about your health. For you to feel empowered when you're going to your healthcare professional, and you're asking them, hey, can you run a hormone panel for me?
I think that my hormones might be off in these areas. Or you can tell them, Hey, can you draw labs? My body's showing signs of this sort of deficiency. The goal is to empower you and to help you feel confident in the choices that you're making about your health that are truly going to have lifelong impact
So that if something happens in the future, you already have an idea of what steps that you can take to figure out
What's going on with your body.
And if we want to get really honest, if you really want to know the honest truth. Sometimes we don't even have to run labs or we don't have to go to our doctors to fix certain issues. If we simply just acknowledge the body and the way that our Eternal Creator designed it.
And if we have the understanding that something is out of balance and what I need to do is to focus on putting my body back into balance. Then it doesn't have to be complicated. We don't have to know, you know, these are the specific nutritional deficiencies, or this is where my hormones are off. If we just take the steps to promote hormone balance as a whole, within our bodies
sometimes that can fix the issue. Now it does depend on how depleted you are in specific areas. And again, your body will likely point to the level of depletion and the severity of depletion. And if your body's very, very depleted, then what we do to address that depletion might look differently.
But what I know is that again, sometimes it's just not necessary to go there. And if we're practicing stewardship and we have a clear understanding of the foods that we should be eating to promote hormone balance. If we have a clear understanding, if you know, there's a protocol that we might need to implement in order to ensure that we are absorbing the nutrients that we're taking in, and that our gut health is in check.
Like if we know these things and if we're doing them over time, Then a lot of our issues will correct themselves. Even the issue of lack of energy and just feeling tired all the time.
So my RestfulRevive Method really centers itself around hormone balance.
โ ๐ And when we pay close attention to our hormones โ ๐
And here's the truth. When I implemented this method for myself, as I've taught other women how to implement the restful revive method we can honestly begin to see results and increase in energy in as little as seven days, It doesn't always have to be this long drawn out process.
When we focus on the hormone reset, your body will respond. Your body will heal.
So let's break this down just a little bit further. I want to ask you a few questions to help you unpack this.
Question number one. Are you eating foods that are promoting hormone balance?
The things that you're putting in your mouth are they creating hormone balance. Do you feel confident in that? Number two. Are you implementing restorative practices all throughout your day that promote hormone balance? Do you know what those restorative practices should look like? Question number three. Where are you emotionally? Do you have unaddressed trauma in your life? When is the last time that you took the time to assess your emotional state?
Okay. Question number four. Mentally, where are you? Are you feeling stressed all the time? Are you constantly feeling overstimulated? Do you know what practices that you can put into place in order to combat stress in order to combat overstimulation? Mentally, where are you? And the last question I would ask is on a spiritual level.
Are you adhering to the principles that we see outlined in scripture?
Are you acknowledging the fact that the most high God created and designed your body in a certain way? And that being a good steward of what he has given us absolutely involves us paying attention to the way that he designed our bodies. So, do you understand what it means to be in sync with the way that our heavenly father designed our temples.?
And not only that are you drawing close and leaning into your heavenly father in this season? You guys know that this is a huge part of my testimony and a huge part of my recovery journey. And really leaning into the arms of our Eternal Creator really leaning into the arms of my Father and trusting that he knows what's best for my life. Really coming out of the aspect of trying to control every single detail of my life.
This is what led to my full recovery and overcoming depression and being delivered from a lot of the things that I was wrestling with mentally. Uh, physically and emotionally. I have to give all praise and honor, and glory to the Most High God. Because almost every single day I wake up and I just.
I just look back on the way that my life has been. Since I started having children. And the way that I struggled and the hopelessness that I felt. And how I, um, Um, you know, lacked energy and how that lack of energy affected and impacted my ability just to be present with my children. And how, uh, me experiencing exhaustion to the core, just, it just fed into every area of my life.
I wasn't showing up in the way that I wanted to, as a mom, I wasn't showing up, um, in the way that I needed to for my business and supporting mothers. It trickled into every single aspect of my life. And so. This is why spiritual recovery is so important to me. Uh, I know that there are a lot of women who are listening in, who are believers and hold to the Bible as their standard of moral truth.
And honestly, You guys are distant. You're struggling to really get close to the Father and open your word because you're drowning at this point. You're tired and you're overwhelmed. And so I just want to encourage you with these questions. This is, this is kind of a short little vitality check. You know, because if we are not acknowledging and questioning ourselves and each of these areas. Then I can bet my bottom dollar that the answer to one of these questions is a solution to the lack of energy that you're experiencing.
And this is exactly where I want to help you. If you're a mother, I want to show you how you can apply my RestfulRevivie method into your life and make it practical so that you can increase your energy levels so that you can be more productive and so that you can be more present with your children.
Your lack of energy is also trickling into every single aspect of your life. You have this innate desire to just be able to show up unconditionally for your children. You have this unconditional love. This is so important to you because you as a mother are healing, your own childhood wounds and traumas, and at your core, you don't want your own trauma and the things that you're struggling with to impact your children in a negative way.
And maybe you weren't thinking about it this deeply. But again, I get down to the core. We're not digging down to get to the root of the issues.
And we're not talking about the real reasons why we want to reclaim our health in specific areas. I am doing this and I want to support you along the way. So again, I'm going to drop my Facebook profile in the show notes. Um, I want you to connect with me on Facebook. You can search Kilah Lawson. K-i-l-a-h L-a-w-s-o-n.
You can send me a DM because what we're going to do is we're going to break down what you're currently doing, what your struggles are, and I'm going to help you to implement the RestfulRevive method into your daily life. Now, if you're a provider listening in,
I want to do the same for you.
ย
ย
Because as providers, this is important for us as well. I'm going to just reiterate the fact that you have a huge mission as a provider. You are meant to truly change the world. You are truly meant to elevate your community and you simply just cannot do this if you are pouring every single ounce of your energy into your clients into your family into your households.
So I want to show you, I want to show you how to apply my RestfulRevive Method as a provider so that you can expand your reach, so that you can serve more clients so that you can impact your community in such a dynamic way that it's truly changed and you creating a culture shift.
And not only am I going to show you how you're going to increase your energy levels, but I also want to show you how we can do this without giving more of ourselves, without giving more of our time. Because the big issue that a lot of us face is we think that in order to serve more families and impact more lives
we have to give up more of our time and that's simply not true. So want to show you how I'm teaching providers to increase their client load without having to give more of their energy and more of their time.
So again, I'm going to drop the link to my profile so that you can send me a DM so that we can talk through this together. And if you're not ready to commit to implementing strategies in order to increase your energy levels, that's cool.
I'm going to drop the link to our Facebook community, the eternal postpartum Facebook group, so that you can just kind of hang around and just be invited into a space where you can ask your questions, and you can be empowered by other women who are like-minded, who are working to heal and truly elevate and truly encourage each other to rise and strength, collectivism and wellness through the infinite stages of motherhood. Be sure to check out those links in the show notes and I'll see you in the next episode.
